Altered Postcards

I often come across interesting paper ephemera, and other postal related items, while working on my mixed media paintings and collages. If these items aren’t immediately used in the pieces I am working on, I put them aside for later consideration. I have been collecting vintage postcards in this manner for over 20 years. These postcards are altered and then combined, through cutting and pasting, with my original photographic images. The result is a unique composition often juxtaposing disparate subjects, environments and time periods.
